FAQ

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE SHADE TO ORDER?

Your shade should be about twice the width of the base.  Proportion is key - if it's too tall it will appear top heavy, if it's too short, your lamp will look out of balance.  Your shade should be about 2/3 of the height of the base. The shade should hide almost all of the metal neck of the lamp, and you never want the bottom of your harp to show.

MAY I GET A FABRIC SAMPLE?

Yes, we have samples of our Fermoie and Ian Sanderson lampshade fabrics.

WHAT DO THE MEASUREMENTS MEAN?

The first number is the diameter of the top of the shade. The second number is the diameter of the bottom of the shade. The last number is the slant of the shade. A shade always refers to the bottom diameter (the middle number).

I ORDERED THE CORRECT SIZE BUT IT STILL DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT.

Make sure to check the harp size. If the harp is too short or too tall, the shade will be positioned in the wrong place. If you are not sure, please feel free to email us with lamp pictures and dimensions at info@theshadeshop.com and we will be happy to help you!

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY SHADES?

Most of the shades on our website are in stock. If you ordered a Fermoie or Ian Sanderson lampshade that is not in stock, it will say "pre-order".  If your lampshade is pre-order, it typically takes about 5 weeks.
